Confirmation Process

The St. Jude Confirmation Process offers a holistic and meaningful path toward receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. Rooted in the life of the Church and guided by the Holy Spirit, this two‑year formation journey helps teens grow in faith, character, and discipleship.
A Journey Beyond the Classroom
Confirmation preparation at St. Jude is more than a series of lessons. It is an immersive experience that brings together:- Catechesis – learning the teachings and traditions of the Catholic faith
- Worship – active participation in Mass and parish liturgies
- Service – responding to Christ’s call to love and serve others
- Retreats – opportunities for prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal
Growing in Faith and Purpose
Our program encourages teens to develop a reflective, mission‑driven spirituality. Candidates are invited to:- Deepen their relationship with Christ
- Recognize their God‑given gifts
- Explore the richness of Catholic teaching
- Respond to their baptismal call with maturity and purpose
A Community Walking Together
Throughout this journey, candidates are supported by their families, peers, catechists, and the entire parish community. Together, we accompany them as they grow into committed disciples, strengthened by the wisdom of the Church and the guiding presence of the Holy Spirit.Program Overview
Year 1: Reinforcing the Foundations of Faith
Year 1 introduces candidates to the core beliefs and practices of the Catholic faith.
Year 1 includes:- Weekly catechetical sessions
- Regular Mass attendance
- Parish involvement (altar serving, youth ministry, choir, etc.)
- Service opportunities within the parish and community
Year 2: Preparing for the Sacrament
Year 2 deepens the candidate’s understanding of the Holy Spirit and the responsibilities of a confirmed Catholic.
Year 2 includes:- Continued catechesis with a focus on Confirmation
- Sponsor involvement and guided conversations
- A Confirmation retreat
- Additional service experiences
- Completion of all sacramental preparation requirements
Program Requirements
To ensure a meaningful and complete preparation, candidates are expected to:- Attend all scheduled classes and retreats
- Participate in Sunday Mass weekly
- Complete required service hours (15 each year- 5 with in the church, 10 in the community)
- Engage in parish life and ministries
- Work with a chosen sponsor who is a practicing Catholic
